AFM® is an activated filter media made. It has been developed as a permanent replacement for sand or zeolite in any type of sand filters. It doubles doubling the performance of sand filters without the need of additional investments in infrastructure.

The chemical composition of the glass. The raw material bust be green or brown. The Particle size and especially the particle form are important, because of the hydraulic performance (not round, not flat). Important: No Broken Bits of glass! By the activation (chemical- physical process) the surface area will be increased by a factor of 300.


Free radicals are created on the surface of the AFM grains at concentrations of above 2ppm of dissolved Oxygen. These prevent bio fouling and protect AFM from bacterial colonisation (self disenfection properties of AFM). Free radicals oxidise dissolved organic matter and heavy metals.
