MAINTENANCE REQUEST FORMS: PUMP REPAIR REQUEST FORM | PICKUP REQUEST FORM
Davey’s range of firefighter water pumps is widely used by fire departments not just in Australia but worldwide. These pumps have proven, reliable firefighting capability with the flow and high pressure needed for serious firefighting duties.
The pumps feature Davey’s patented single or twin-impeller wet end design that helped achieve higher efficiencies. These portable workhorses also have the flexibility to draw from a shallow or deep well when power is not available.
The working principle of the fire pump is the same as that of the centrifugal pump. It is driven by a motor. Before starting the pump, the pump body and the suction line are filled with liquid from the source. When the impeller rotates at high speed, the impeller drives the liquid between the blades to rotate. Due to the centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown from the centre of the impeller to the outer edge of the impeller and the kinetic energy is also increased. The pressurised water is then pumped out to the nozzle.
