MAINTENANCE REQUEST FORMS: PUMP REPAIR REQUEST FORM | PICKUP REQUEST FORM
Grundfos immersible pumps are a type of centrifugal pump designed to push liquid upwards instead of drawing it in. In this design, the pump body is fully submerged in the fluid being pumped, while the motor is positioned above the liquid.
This configuration makes immersible pumps ideal for applications involving corrosive liquids, as it ensures that the motor remains out of contact with the fluid.
Grundfos submersible and immersible pumps are centrifugal in type and are widely used for handling water from an underground or any below the surface source. Unlike normal above ground pump, submersible pumps must be submerged totally with its sealed motor into the water. Meanwwhile, immersible pumps are mounted in vertical position with the motor above the liquid and the pump end extended below the liquid level.
Before the pumping begins, the pump must be filled with fluid to start priming. After starting on the system, the impeller is rotated by the motor. Running in a high speed, water transferred is likewise rotated. Under centrifugal force, water is thrown far away from impeller, moving to the tip of the vanes until it falls to the volute. With added pressure, the fluid now flows out through the outlet. At that time, vacuum low pressure zone is formed in the center of impeller, causing fluid to flow continuously.
