Alfa Laval’s Centrifugal

Alfa Laval’s Centrifugal

Alfa Laval centrifugal pumps are the benchmark for quality CIP and hygienic pumps. The standard models are built for general product transfer duties or pumps for evaporation, high-pressure, self-priming, CIP return, and high-purity duties. Designed to deliver optimum performance, these pumps ensure high efficiency, more uptime, gentle product handling, energy savings, easy maintenance, and low total cost of ownership.

PUMP

Principle of Operation

In Alfa Laval centrifugal pumps and multi-stage designs, fluid first enters through the impeller eye. It is then forced into a circular movement by rotating impeller vanes. These rotating impeller vanes transfer mechanical work to the fluid in the impeller channel. The fluid is then pressed out of the impeller by formed centrifugal force and finally leaves the impeller channel with increased pressure and velocity. The velocity of the fluid is also partly converted into pressure by the pump casing before it leaves the pump through the outlet.
