Principle of Operation

A Grundfos end-suction close-coupled multistage centrifugal pump features multiple stages, or impellers, designed to increase pressure. This makes it ideal for applications requiring high head and moderate flow. Liquid enters the pump through the suction port and moves through each impeller, which increases its velocity. As the impeller rotates, the liquid is discharged into a volute casing, where the high velocity is converted into pressure. The multiple stages enable a significant increase in pressure, allowing the liquid to be pumped to the desired location effectively.
