Overview
In a recent project, our team built a custom assembly of a submersible pump, floating platform, and sacrificial anode specifically tailored to meet the demanding dewatering needs of a client. This specialised pump package was designed to optimise efficiency in handling site pit waste, ultimately enhancing uptime and ensuring reliable performance under extreme conditions.
The Problem
A client requested an additional unit of the custom-built Tsurumi LH pumps we previously supplied. These pumps are engineered to withstand the harsh conditions present in the client's pits.
The Solution
All-Pumps customised a Tsurumi LH637 high-head, high-volume dewatering pump by fitting it with a sacrificial anode and a floating frame/barge to enhance its performance in challenging environments.
Project Highlight
I – TSURUMI LH 637 DEWATERING PUMP
Tsurumi LH pumps are engineered for medium to high-flow dewatering applications with higher heads. Their top discharge flow-through design allows for low water level operation for extended periods. Featuring a high-chromium, semi-open impeller and adjustable wear rings, the LH pumps provide enhanced wear resistance, making them ideal for extreme dewatering and effluent transfer in construction, mining, and industrial sites.
Features:
- High-pressure capability
- High-pressure-rated mechanical seals
- Seal pressure relief ports
- Rugged iron construction
- Anti-wicking cable entrance
- Dual silicon carbide mechanical seals
- Oil lifter
- Internal thermal motor protection
II – SACRIFICIAL ANODES TO PROTECT THE LH PUMP FROM AGGRESSIVE FLUIDS AND CORROSION
Dewatering pumps, often exposed to corrosion in harsh environments such as mines, quarries, construction sites, and tunnels, can be effectively protected with sacrificial anodes. This cost-effective solution helps reduce repair or replacement costs and extends the pump's lifespan.
Sacrificial anodes are made from highly active metals with an alloy composition that has a more negative electrochemical potential than the metal they protect. By taking on the initial wear and corrosion, sacrificial anodes provide a reliable layer of protection for your pump components and motor.
III – FLOATING BARGES/PLATFORM
Tsurumi dewatering pumps can be equipped with floating platforms or barges, enabling effective dewatering from quarries, pits, and other challenging sites. These durable barges, constructed from high-quality materials with welded steel frames, provide a stable platform for pump operation. By allowing the pumps to work closer to the water’s surface, they help prevent the intake of settled abrasives or solids that could lead to clogging. This versatile pump system allows both the barge and pump to be adjusted, ensuring efficient water removal down to the lowest levels, even on uneven terrain.
