The Gear type pump range, known as ‘G’ type, refers to Albany’s family of External Gear Pumps. They are available in horizontal, vertical or tank top mount variations. These pumps are often used as lubrication pumps in machine tools, in fluid power transfer units, and as oil pumps in engines. They have tighter internal clearances that allows a more reliable measurement of liquid passing through a pump and greater flow control.

PUMP
Principle of Operation
External gear pumps use two identical, interlocking gears supported by separate shafts. As these gears come out of mesh on the inlet side of the pump, they create an expanded volume. Liquid then flows into the cavities and is trapped by the gear teeth as the gears continue to rotate against the pump casing. The trapped fluid is then moved from the inlet to the discharge, around the casing. As the teeth of the gears become interlocked on the discharge side of the pump, the volume is reduced and the fluid is forced out under pressure.
