Albany Pumps manufactures a range of made-to-order pumps for the global market at its base in the Forest of Dean, ready to ship anywhere in the world and be installed and supported by our experienced engineers.

With over 100 years of experience, they have got an unrivaled knowledge of pump applications, and we can provide technical advice as to which pump type best suits your needs. Not only does this help our customers to find relevant content, but it also assures them that they are purchasing a pump that is specifically built for their particular task and will withstand the test of time.

Our range of pumps covers External Gear Pumps, Twin Screw Pumps, Internal Lobe Pumps, and Centrifugal Pumps all of which are available to configure depending on the specific product being pumped or installation requirements.

External Gear Pumps

The Gear type pump range, known as ‘G’ type in our product names, refers to Albany’s family of External Gear Pumps. Our pumps are available as either horizontal, vertical or tank top mounted units. You will find in our product range a multitude of styles, listed from A-X, which refer to the applications of that specific pump. We also supply External Gear pumps from brands such as Crown Pumps, Barclay Kellett and Stanhope Engineers ranges.

Why choose an External Gear Pump?

External gear pumps are often used as lubrication pumps in machine tools, in fluid power transfer units, and as oil pumps in engines. As this specific type of pump’s gears rotate, they create a suction and a void which is filled by fluid. This fluid is carried by the gears to the discharge side of the pump where it is displaced and ‘pumped out’. Tighter internal clearances provide for a more reliable measure of liquid passing through a pump and for greater flow control. Because of this, external gear pumps are popular for precise transfer and metering applications involving liquids such as polymers, fuels, and chemical additives.

Twin Screw Pump

Now known as the ‘S’ range in our updated selection of pumps, Albany Pumps has been making these high speed, quiet-running screw pumps for over 20 years. Our clients in the oil and marine markets have found that Twin Screw Pumps best meet their needs, as they are capable of handling the wide range of viscosities that are often encountered with hydrocarbon liquids – as well as efficiently pumping them at a range of temperatures. Having owned the rights to the successful Stothert & Pitt brand since early 2000, we have significant experience and over the years we have also developed the design to create our own range of cost-effective and modern Albany Twin Screw Pumps.

Why choose a Twin Screw Pump?

As a positive displacement pump, the Twin Screw Pump uses two or more screws to transport fluids along the axis. The excellent suction of Twin Screw Pumps allows for a pulse-free flow, aiding their growth in popularity as the world’s appetite for oil grew. The twin screws inside the pump turn interchangeably, allowing for a non-metal contact that creates an even pressure; pushing the liquid cargo constantly and cleanly towards the discharge end of the pump.

Internal Lobe Pump

Our L range of Internal Lobe Pumps was born from the original Stothert and Pitt Internal Lobe Pump range. Manufactured in a number of materials, Albany can now provide Internal Lobe Pumps in various material combinations including cast iron, cast steel, aluminium bronze, phosphor bronze and stainless steel. Having been used in industries such as oil refining, soap and the production of manmade fibres for over 75 years, the L range is also ideal for applications in the sugar industry, thanks to its ability to perform well with product of a high viscosity and abrasive nature.

Why choose an Internal Lobe Pump?

Internal Lobe Pumps consist of a pump casing fitted with renewable liners to give them a long life against demanding conditions. Internal Lobe Pumps are extremely proficient at pumping high viscosity liquids at low rotational speeds or low viscosity liquids at synchronous motor speeds, ensuring that the pockets created during the pump rotation are completely filled.

Centrifugal Pump

Our C range of Centrifugal Pumps can be supplied as new pumps or as replacements in a variety of differing materials. Albany Pumps manufacture our own supply of long-established designs, first created by Stothert and Pitt. We manufacture Centrifugal Pumps to accommodate the heavy-duty requirements of applications, including foods and other types of cargo. Available in either horizontal or vertical moun ted options with a bearing bracket, these pumps can be easily removed for maintenance without disturbing driver, suction or delivery pipework.

Why choose a Centrifugal Pump?

Our range of column centrifugal pumps is ideal for a variety of situations. Most widely used in the General and Chemical, Fire, Lubrication, Marine and Oil & Gas industries, these pumps can be customised to fit your specific pumping needs. Centrifugal Pumps can handle a range of temperatures up to 180 °C and can be manufactured in either cast iron, steel or stainless steel, with a range of added extra options for user convenience.
