Principle of Operation

Sandpiper Pump is an innovator of highly versatile Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps. They belong to the positive displacement pump family and are among the most used PD pumps in different industries.

An AODD pump uses compressed air as its power source. The design of this pump features two flexible diaphragms, each positioned in opposite chambers. Both chambers have common inlet and outlet ports. A shaft in between the diaphragms acts as their driving mechanism. Finally, valves or balls are placed on the openings of the chamber, acting as gates on the suction and discharge sides.

First, compressed air enters the pump and pushes the link shaft to the right and to the left. This allows the diaphragms to move simultaneously where one is in its discharge stroke while the other is in its suction stroke.

As simple as this back-and-forth movement, Sandpiper AODD pumps are able to move fluid within a system.
