Principle of Operation

Sulzer dewatering pumps are submersible centrifugal in type and are used to remove water collected in construction sites, tunnels, and mines. They suck the dirty water – which is circulated in the casing by the impeller – and later discharged to a wellpoint system or open sump. Depending on the type of water, a dewatering pump may use strainers to remove abrasives from the groundwater before being processed. A dewatering sludge pump, on the other hand, is used for moving thick, viscous fluids.

Pump Design Features

  1. Instead of a built-in contactor, an optional AquaTronic unit can be used.
  2. A free-flow vortex impeller and pump volute make the pump ideal for pumping solids.
  3. Both the impeller and volute are made from heavy-duty ductile iron for maximum durability.
  4. The top cover and motor housing are made of lightweight aluminum.
  5. Due to the modular design, the same parts can be used for different pumps.
  6. High-efficiency motor and hydraulics with lowfriction bearings to reduce power losses.
