Centrifugal Pump - TKL MVE Industrial Process

Flowserve Australia Logo
The TKL MVE is a series of single-stage volute pumps designed for high flow and low head applications in various industries, municipal settings, and agricultural services. These centrifugal pumps are engineered according to the most modern research findings in hydraulics and hydrodynamics. The overhung configuration of MVE pumps enables better suction performance and reduced cost of ownership through simple pipe layout and installation. The single-suction design, solid case, and back pull-out feature of these pumps are their additional selling points.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

Industrial Centrifugal Pumps

Fluid enters the impeller through the “eye” and is “centrifuged” (hence the name) to the impeller periphery, with assistance from the impeller vanes.
As the impeller rotates, it imparts kinetic energy onto the liquid surrounding it due to friction. The liquid moves towards the outer periphery of the impeller; its kinetic energy is then changed to pressure. The impeller has vanes separated by channels through which the liquid flows. Each channel has an increasing flow path area. As the flow path area expands, the liquid’s velocity decreases and the pressure increases.
Due to the unique shape of the volute casing, the liquid undergoes further velocity decrease and pressure increase. The liquid is then discharged through the discharge port.
