PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

Wilden diaphragm pumps are air operated and are mostly double diaphragms. Air drives the pump to work. Compressed air enters the air inlet chamber and the air pressure moves the shaft either to the left or right. When the shaft moves to the right, it puts pressure on the right diaphragm, placing it to its discharge stroke. Meanwhile, the left diaphragm is pulled towards the centre, creating a vacuum in the left chamber, and the suction of fluid begins. Meanwhile, as soon as the right chamber reaches its maximum discharge stroke, the shaft begins to move to the left and shifts the air pressure to the left diaphragm. The fluid that entered during the left diaphragm’s suction stroke will now be pushed past the discharge valve. The left diaphragm is not positioned to its suction stroke. This makes up a full AODD pumping cycle.
